Jesus had to ask the disciples who He was because it is very important for every follower to know who He is. In order words you need to know whom you are following. Upon answering the question, Jesus said to Peter, flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my father in heaven and upon this (revelation), I will build my Church.Jesus could not build His church on a man (Peter) but upon revelation. This is because Peter died and he did not rise from his grave. Yes I believe that Peter was in charge of the Church after Jesus went back. He said I will be with you always.
He is the Comforter- the Holy Spirit. He is Christ, the Anointed One; the Son of the Living God. Jesus said, I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins. (KJV John 8:24)
No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
